Shipyard Falls on Mine Brook

East Hampton, CT

Rising in the forests of East Hampton, Mine Brook amasses its waters from two miles of coarse wildlands and stages a graceful plunge into a shallow, shadowy chasm.

Shipyard Falls was once at the heart of a bustling village that leveraged its docks on the Connecticut River to move freight and construct boats. Round-the-clock maritime traffic on the river ceased with the advent of the railroads, leaving these falls to murmur away in the quiet woods of a now-sleepy hamlet.
